It’s nearly impossible to be curious when you are suffering from “helmet head”
The helmet head I’m referring to is an epidemic. People’s minds are jammed packed with thoughts, swirling and twisting, ALL THE TIME.
It’s kind of like wearing a helmet all day, every day. Weighing you down. Some of those thoughts are inspired, creative, loving, beautiful thoughts. While others are simply a waste of your valuable energy and they distract you from the present moment.
When you starting practicing mindfulness – quieting those energy hogging thoughts – your helmet will start to change. Imagine a holey, lighter helmet. Not safe if you were riding a bike but incredibly freeing as it relates to the quality of your life.
My helmet is pretty minimal at this point after nearly two years of practicing mindfulness and I am so dang curious!! Way more curious about people I’m interacting with. So curious about a whole bunch of new topics. Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) for example. And curious about new physical activities. I recently enjoyed a water aerobics class (yes, I was the youngest one there) and it was quite a workout!
My grandfather, who passed at the age of 94, was taking piano lessons for the first time in his 80’s. He took many college courses in the last decades of his life. I think you were onto something Grandpa! This new found curiosity is why I am feeling younger than I ever have. Curiosity truly is a Fountain Of Youth.
